ABC develops comedy pilot for Geico Cavemen

I only read the title of the article before clicking away from the page to see what else was on.

The article mentions the dot.com "baby Bob" ad turned tv show (which failed), but wasn't there also a california raisins cartoon? and what about tv shows based on toys? haven't there been many successful versions of that? The real question, to me, is "Who owns this idea?" I reckon that ad agency is doing okay by this.

I'm not saying the pilot won't get the greenlight, I'm not saying it shouldn't. I think the premise of the commercial is contradictory to the ad's message (so easy a caveman can do it, cavemen are smart though, so now it's like "so easy, a regular guy can do it." Which is like, "what?") Also, the joke is pretty played out. Unless it's just a sitcom about a caveman who lives in the world, because I'd totally dig that. I guess it's not as implausible as it is surprising and . . .what's the opposite of delightful? OF course, I was all calling bullshit on the sitcom about aliens living among us, and Third Rock from the Sun ended up being sort of funny.

I guess what I am saying is that the travelocity troll is way funnier.
